French Avenue by Steve Payter

Beyond the shady confines of this peaceful, leafy avenue lies the sleepy village of Malemort.  To me it typifies Provence – the butcher stands in his doorway chatting to the old men sitting outside the café, smoking, sipping and setting the world to rights.  A crazy one-way system threads through the impossibly narrow streets, and appears to be signless.  Several times I lost my way and found myself deposited back at the top of this tree-lined avenue, to start all over again!  Bedouin in Provence, one of my favourite locations for photography full stop.
